New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) On the eve of the BJP legislature party meeting, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and National BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde met with Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena on Tuesday, intensifying the anticipation surrounding the announcement of the new Chief Minister.
A Delhi BJP leader indicated that the legislature party meeting is anticipated to commence around 7 pm on Wednesday. Following this meeting, a signed letter of support from all MLAs endorsing the new Chief Minister and Leader of the House will be submitted to Saxena.
The leader emphasized that the procedure of presenting this letter of support to the L-G should be finalized prior to the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister and Cabinet, set for February 20 at the historic Ram Lila Maidan.
The swearing-in is expected to occur around 11:30 am, as noted by a BJP official accompanying Sachdeva and BJP spokesperson Tarun Chugh to Ram Lila Maidan to oversee the preparations for the significant event, which will feature an address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.
Earlier that day, multiple meetings took place at the Delhi BJP office. A new entrance gate was also constructed at the main entrance of the office located on Pandit Pant Marg in central Delhi.
Meanwhile, newly-elected BJP MLA from Patparganj constituency, Ravinder Singh Negi, criticized his predecessor and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, accusing him of removing air-conditioners and other furnishings from the MLA's office after his defeat.
An AAP spokesperson, however, refuted the claim, asserting that only the office space was provided by the government while the other furnishings and chairs were financed by Sisodia himself.
In another turn of events, Sachdeva criticized the AAP party for its use of offensive language against the BJP and for focusing excessively on the ruling party's Chief Minister candidate.
He remarked that former minister Gopal Rai has been overly concerned about the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for the past two days, suggesting it would have been more appropriate for him to reveal the name of the leader of the AAP legislature party.
The Delhi BJP President also noted that Sanjay Singh, in a moment of anger, insulted his party workers by claiming they took money and had ink applied to their fingers before the elections, rendering them ineligible to vote on polling day.
