Gurugram, March 4 (NationPress) A man was apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly distributing “fraudulent tickets” to actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's concert by establishing a counterfeit website mimicking Zomato, according to police reports.
The suspect has been identified as Nitin, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, North West Delhi.
As per police statements, the food delivery service Zomato lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime police station (south) on September 17, claiming that phony websites (https://zomato-live.com, https://zomato-live.in, https://zomato-live.online, https://luxuryflame.online/checkout-2/), and an email ID zometoliveevent@gmail.com had been created in the name of Zomato, which was unauthorized to sell tickets for Diljit Dosanjh's concert.
Following this complaint, a case was registered under the applicable sections at the Police Station in Gurugram.
During the investigation, a police team led by Inspector Naveen Kumar apprehended the suspect.
Upon interrogation, Nitin disclosed that he had been selling tickets for Diljit's concert through a fraudulent website.
Gurugram Police Spokesperson Sandeep Kumar stated: “The police team scrutinized the accused's bank transactions where the deceived amount was transferred. A total of Rs 7,998 (3999+3999) for two tickets was transferred to the bank account and utilized by the account holder.”
Another officer involved in the investigation mentioned that he used to modify concert tickets and sell them.
“The accused admitted to his wrongdoing. He will be presented in a city court to seek police custody for further questioning. Additional measures will be taken against him accordingly. The investigation is ongoing,” he added.
