New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) In light of the recent explosion near the Lal Quila Metro Station in Delhi, BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, stated on Tuesday that the government will respond promptly once the investigation is finalized.
In a conversation with IANS, Khandelwal remarked, “Security agencies are exploring every possibility and once all information is gathered and the investigation is completed, the government will take swift action.”
This declaration follows the ongoing investigations by multiple agencies into the car blast that rocked the national capital on Monday evening. Reports indicate that the Hyundai i20 vehicle involved in the explosion was acquired from a second-hand car dealer located in Sector 37, Faridabad, Haryana.
The devastating blast occurred near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals and injuring numerous others. The explosion also caused damage to nearby vehicles and infrastructure. In reaction, heightened alerts have been issued across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with increased security measures at crowded public areas, metro stations, and religious sites.
Officials confirmed that this incident transpired mere hours after police dismantled a terror module associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad.
During the operation, authorities confiscated 290 kg of ammonium nitrate and a significant stockpile of weapons. Two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir -- Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil -- were apprehended for their alleged connections to these terror organizations.
Sources indicate that these arrests may have incited panic within the module, resulting in the explosion in Delhi.
The investigation has also identified Dr. Mohd Umar, who allegedly drove the i20 car that detonated near the Red Fort. Umar, who perished in the blast, hailed from Koil village in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
A graduate from the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, police have detained his two brothers and mother for questioning, while his father is reportedly mentally challenged.
Meanwhile, shops in nearby markets adjacent to the Red Fort have remained shuttered following the incident. Teams from the NIA have arrived at the scene for further investigation. The Additional CP of the Special Cell, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, is also on-site.
As security agencies diligently analyze CCTV footage and pursue leads, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that those accountable are swiftly brought to justice.
