New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has assured the nation that those responsible for the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi will face justice and “will not be spared under any circumstances.”
The explosion occurred on Monday evening when a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 parked near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, resulting in at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries. In response, high alerts have been issued across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with heightened security around crowded public areas and religious sites.
While addressing the 'Delhi Defence Dialogue' in New Delhi, Singh expressed, “I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives in this tragic incident that occurred in Delhi yesterday. My prayers are with the bereaved families during this incredibly difficult time.”
He emphasized that investigative agencies are undertaking a comprehensive investigation, with results to be shared publicly.
“I want to assure my fellow citizens that the country’s leading investigative agencies are conducting a swift and thorough inquiry into the incident. The findings of the investigation will be made public soon. I assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances,” the Defence Minister added.
In the aftermath of the blast, security measures have been intensified in Delhi-NCR, with NSG commandos deployed at critical installations.
Law enforcement, including the NIA, NSG, and forensic teams, arrived on the scene within minutes, cordoning off the area. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage to reconstruct the events and identify the perpetrator.
