New Delhi, May 18 (NationPress) On Sunday, Delhi's Education Minister Ashish Sood handed out Ayushman cards to senior citizens residing in the Janakpuri neighborhood, emphasizing the government's dedication to alleviating the financial strain of expensive healthcare.

During the event, Minister Sood mentioned that smart cards, which are convenient for pocket storage, were provided to between 20 and 25 individuals that day.

"Special camps are also being organized to ensure that beneficiaries can receive free treatment up to ₹10 lakh," he stated.

"Eligible elderly residents can also obtain their cards on-site at our office, enabling them to benefit from the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)," he added.

He highlighted that the Ayushman Yojana has been launched in Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Aside from the health coverage of ₹5 lakh provided by this scheme, the Delhi government will offer an additional top-up of ₹5 lakh, he noted.

Each beneficiary will thus receive a comprehensive health security package amounting to ₹10 lakh, setting a benchmark nationally.

He assured that health-related issues will no longer pose a financial burden, enabling Delhi's elderly to seek necessary treatments without hesitation, with services available at designated hospitals across Delhi and other states, ensuring both quality and accessibility.

Minister Sood remarked that this initiative is not just about health security, but also a means of restoring dignity and confidence to every family.

"We are determined that no individual should miss out on treatment due to financial constraints. We will guarantee that every qualified person benefits from this program. This scheme will be particularly lifesaving for the underprivileged and needy," he stated.

He criticized the previous AAP government for obstructing the launch of this public welfare initiative, which deprived many citizens of essential health services.

Minister Sood emphasized that this program is more than just a treatment option; it represents a significant stride towards a robust and self-sufficient Delhi.

"This initiative will prepare our healthcare system for future demands and play a crucial role in establishing Delhi as a leader in the health sector, reinforcing our Prime Minister's vision to 'Develop Delhi' and provide top-notch healthcare to its inhabitants," he concluded.

Point of View
