New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) Following the official unveiling of the ‘Atal Canteen’ initiative by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at a gathering in Lajpat Nagar, various Delhi Ministers ventured across the city on Thursday to inaugurate similar facilities in their individual constituencies, as confirmed by an official statement.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inaugurated an Atal Canteen in Shyam Nagar, Rajouri Garden, representing a significant advancement towards delivering affordable, hygienic, and nutritious meals to daily wage workers and those in need for just Rs 5.
Sirsa expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring the realization of the promise of highly subsidized, dignified meals for the underprivileged and working classes.
While addressing the local residents, Sirsa emphasized that each Atal Canteen is intended to embody Atal Ji’s principle of prioritizing the poorest first. Each canteen aims to provide food for at least 1,000 individuals twice daily, he remarked.
Sirsa stated, “Our initiative through these canteens is to guarantee that no one in Delhi goes to bed on an empty stomach and that every diligent citizen has access to a clean, nourishing meal.”
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated an Atal Canteen at JJC, Indra Camp-3, Vikaspuri.
It was also revealed that three additional Atal Canteens will be launched in the Vikaspuri Assembly constituency soon, further enhancing the accessibility of affordable meals for local residents.
Each Atal Canteen is set to serve up to 1,000 plates daily on a first-come, first-served basis, operating in two shifts — from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The menu will feature seasonal vegetables, rice/millets, roti, dal, and pickle, ensuring nutritious, affordable, and hygienic meals for the underprivileged.
During the inauguration, Pankaj Kumar Singh remarked that the Atal Canteen exemplifies the foundational vision of inclusive development and compassionate governance.
Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh also inaugurated Atal Canteens at A-Block SRS/JJ Colony, Bawana and C-Block, Shahbad Dairy.
The Social Welfare Minister personally served meals at the Atal Canteen, evaluated the meal quality, and actively sought feedback from patrons.
He directed officials to adhere strictly to the Chief Minister’s instructions that there should be no compromises on food quality. Sufficient nutrition must be guaranteed within the five-rupee meal, and ongoing monitoring should be conducted.
