New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Delhi Police made significant progress in their fight against illegal activities by apprehending three individuals involved in an interstate liquor smuggling operation. They seized 40 cartons containing 2,000 quarters of illicit liquor.
A statement from the Dwarka Police revealed that the Special Staff team of Dwarka District caught the suspects: Sunny, 39, son of Mool Chand from Najafgarh, Delhi; Riti alias Ritik, 19, son of Munshi from Jai Vihar, Najafgarh; and Ajit, 30, son of Omprakash from Village Kablana, District Jhajjar, Haryana.
The illicit liquor was intended for sale in Haryana. In addition, a TVS Jupiter scooter with a temporary registration number (DL12A0XXXX), used in the smuggling, was confiscated.
Under the orders of DCP Dwarka District, Ankit Singh, the Special Staff was assigned to monitor those engaged in supplying illegal liquor from Haryana to Dwarka and nearby regions. They closely observed interstate borders and utilized local sources to gather actionable intelligence.
On November 15, Head Constable Vijender Kumar received a tip-off regarding a TVS Jupiter scooter linked to liquor smuggling. A raiding team led by Inspector Vishvendra, along with Sub Inspector Vinod Kumar and others, was established under the supervision of ACP Operations Dwarka, Ram Avtar.
The team executed a raid in Dichaon Gaon, Kumharo Wali Gali, BHD Nagar, where they spotted Sunny arriving on the scooter with a black bag. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain illicit liquor quarters.
Further questioning revealed that the liquor was loaded from a nearby residence. During a subsequent search, police discovered two individuals engaged in filling illicit liquor bottles into bags. A total of 38 additional cartons were also recovered.
The two men were identified as Riti alias Ritik and Ajit, who were working under Sunny.
A case has been filed under FIR No. 373/25, dated November 16, under Sections 33/38/58(D) of the Delhi Excise Act at BHD Nagar Police Station.
During their interrogation, the suspects admitted to supplying illegal liquor from Haryana to Delhi for quick financial gain.
Investigations are ongoing.
