New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, has effectively located and rescued two minor children from various locations across the national capital, including a specially-abled boy, officials reported on Sunday.
Both children have been safely returned to their families, while authorities apprehended a 24-year-old suspect in one of the cases.
In the first instance, a 16-year-old specially-abled boy was reported missing on December 8 from the Bhalswa Dairy police station area.
A case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, was officially registered following a complaint made by his family.
Due to the sensitive nature of the situation, the investigation was assigned to the AHTU, the designated agency for handling such cases.
An intensive search operation was initiated by a dedicated team led by Inspector Manoj Dahiya, alongside ASI Gopal Krishan, Woman Head Constable Seema, and Constable Dharamraj, under the guidance of ACP Suresh Kumar.
The team disseminated the boy’s photograph via social media and WhatsApp groups and conducted thorough checks at numerous locations.
Thanks to ground-level intelligence, the boy was located near Shani Mandir in the Alipur area.
Police investigations indicated that the boy, who is mentally challenged, had strayed from home and lost his way. He was subsequently reunited with his parents.
In the second case, a 16-year-old girl was reported missing on December 20 from the same police station area.
Acting promptly, the AHTU team gathered information from her family and friends and scrutinized call detail records.
Through technical surveillance and field verification, the police traced the girl, along with a suspect named Vikas (24), from Samta Vihar in Bhalswa Dairy.
Investigations revealed that the girl, a Class 9 student, had become acquainted with the suspect, who had been collecting water tankers from her residence.
Authorities stated that she was allegedly eloped by him on December 19 and taken to a flat in Jahangirpuri, where she reported having been sexually assaulted.
Both victims and the accused have been transferred to the relevant police stations for further legal proceedings, as stated by DCP Pankaj Kumar.
