Delhi Police Expels Five Bangladeshi Nationals Living Illegally

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) Delhi Police has apprehended and expelled five Bangladeshi nationals who were residing illegally in Sarita Vihar, as confirmed by the authorities on Saturday.

The individuals were discovered living in a guest house located in Madanpur Khadar's Mawasi Colony after their visas had lapsed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South-East, Ravi Kumar Singh, provided insights about the operation, stating, "We have established an Illegal Immigrant Detection Cell in the south-east district that identifies and deports illegal immigrants. This team uncovered five illegal immigrants residing in a Bangladeshi guest house in Sarita Vihar. These individuals entered India in August 2024 on tourist visas, which have since lapsed."

The individuals identified include Sheikh Sofiul Alam Sabbir, Md. Takdirul Khan, Bijoymod Sahi, Habibur Rahman, and Md. Musa Mia Khan. Each of them had overstayed their visas, which expired between October and November 2024. All had entered India under the guise of visiting the Bosnian Embassy to obtain work permits.

"We have also initiated legal proceedings against the guest house owner for neglecting to verify their documentation and failing to alert the police. An FIR has been lodged under the Foreigners Act, 1946," DCP Singh added.

The Illegal Immigrant Investigation Team (IIDT) of the South-East District, spearheaded by Sub-Inspectors Narendra Sherawat and Hari Kishan, executed the operation. They received assistance from ASI Birjesh Kumar, HC Vikas, HC Arun Kumar, and CT Mohit Rathi.

This operation is part of a broader crackdown initiated by the South-East District Police on November 19, 2024, aimed at identifying and deporting illegal migrants. Since the campaign commenced, 14 Bangladeshi nationals have been expelled from the area.

The detained individuals were presented before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for deportation procedures. Authorities underscored the significance of adhering to the Foreigners Act to ensure proper reporting and monitoring of foreign nationals in the country.

The police remain committed to their efforts in locating and taking action against more illegal migrants in the district.
