Delhi Police Women's Team Saves Minor Girl from Job Scam and Arrests Suspect
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 7 (NationPress) In a remarkable operation, the Delhi Police successfully rescued a 17-year-old minor girl and apprehended a suspect on Tuesday, thanks to the swift actions of the Mahila Chowki women's patrol unit in the Central District. The girl had been lured to Delhi under the false promise of employment.
Officials reported that the situation unfolded on April 2 at approximately 10:00 AM, when a patrol team from the Kamla Market Police Station, including SI Kiran Sethi, W/Ct Khushboo, and W/Ct Pooja, was conducting routine checks near S.N. Marg. During their patrol, they encountered the minor girl seeking urgent assistance.
The officers acted decisively to ensure her safety and took her statement. The victim, who hails from Darbhanga district in Bihar, disclosed that she had left her home on March 14 due to a family dispute and had traveled to Delhi based on a friend's suggestion.
Upon arriving at New Delhi Railway Station, she was welcomed by Shivji Das (52), a friend of her acquaintance. He brought her to his home in Nehru Vihar, where she remained from March 15 until April 2, under the guise of being offered domestic work.
During her stay, particularly when the accused's wife was away, Shivji Das allegedly violated her modesty, made unwelcome advances, and threatened her with disgrace if she revealed his actions.
On April 2, the accused instructed the girl to wait in a parking area at S.N. Marg, claiming he was securing a job for her. Sensing imminent danger, the girl sought help from the women police team passing by.
Responding to her plea, the police quickly apprehended the suspect at the scene. Further inquiries revealed that he was attempting to negotiate a deal to sell the minor, a plan thwarted by the timely intervention of law enforcement.
An FIR (No. 95/2026) has been registered at the Kamla Market Police Station based on the victim's statement, invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
The victim has undergone a medical examination and is currently in the care of the Child Welfare Committee, safe in a shelter home.
The police confirmed the arrest of Shivji Das, a native of Darbhanga, Bihar, and the investigation is ongoing.
