New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) The Delhi Public Works Minister, Parvesh Verma, has developed a comprehensive and timely strategy aimed at the renovation of approximately 1,400 kilometers of roads. This initiative is designed to improve traffic flow, bolster safety, and reduce pollution levels in the capital city, as stated by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Thursday.
Minister Verma emphasized that the pollution issue will not be resolved within a few months; rather, it will require consistent efforts over the years. He expressed a desire not to enforce strict regulations on the populace, instead encouraging public cooperation with the advisories released by the state government.
Furthermore, he criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for neglecting necessary work that should have been completed during their 11 years in power.
“The persistent pollution is not a result of recent actions but stems from years of neglect by previous administrations. Had timely actions been taken, the current situation in Delhi would not be so dire,” he stated.
Verma pointed out that essential tasks such as clearing heaps of garbage, repairing sidewalks, managing e-waste, cleaning the Yamuna, and road maintenance should have been undertaken by the AAP government.
If the AAP had accomplished even a fraction of these responsibilities, the remaining tasks would have been manageable. Yet, he noted, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP failed to undertake any significant initiatives in the last 11 years.
The BJP-led government in Delhi has been in power for the past nine months. Since February 20, 2025, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, along with all Ministers and Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, has actively engaged with the public on the streets, according to Verma's posts on the social media platform X.
“The Delhi government has successfully executed numerous programs. Pollution is not a problem that developed overnight; it is a long-standing issue. If Arvind Kejriwal had accomplished even minimal work, we would have had an easier time addressing the remaining challenges. Unfortunately, Kejriwal misled and deceived the people of Delhi,” Verma concluded.
