New Delhi, June 20 (NationPress) Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma has openly condemned the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for what he describes as a decade of misgovernance in Delhi prior to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regaining control of the state earlier this year.
According to Verma, since the BJP assumed leadership in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been diligently assessing the advancement of various development projects, conducting site visits, and holding officials from different state departments accountable.
Verma emphasized that unlike the previous AAP regime, which he claims was focused on gaining media attention and engaging in photo opportunities, the current BJP administration is wholly dedicated to delivering the benefits of welfare schemes to the populace.
Since taking office, he stated, the BJP government has been revealing the shortcomings of the past AAP government, including issues such as clogged drains, silting sewer lines, and a complete lack of groundwork over the past decade.
On social media platform X, Parvesh Verma expressed: "Daily, we are uncovering new truths since our return to power in Delhi — drains completely blocked, lines never desilted, and zero groundwork accomplished in the last 10 years. This is the true legacy of the Kejriwal administration."
As of now, Verma noted, 70 percent of the drains have been desilted by the Public Works Development under the leadership of the CM Rekha Gupta-led BJP government in Delhi.
"Instead of criticizing the BJP, AAP leaders must provide explanations for their failure to clean the drains in the capital year after year, and for not developing a long-term flood management plan, despite allocating crores to agencies like the Delhi Jal Board and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department while the city continues to suffer from flooding after every rain," Verma asserted.
He further added, "The Aam Aadmi Party must reflect on why Delhi was allowed to decay so drastically after 10 years of their governance. The citizens of Delhi have seen through their excuses — they now demand action, not mere accusations."
Earlier in February this year, the BJP secured 48 out of 70 Assembly seats, marking their return to power in the Union Territory of Delhi after a gap of 27 years.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which held power for the prior decade, faced significant losses, with many prominent leaders and Cabinet Ministers, including national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Somnath Bharti, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Rakhi Birla, and Durgesh Pathak, losing their seats.
