New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) The opening ceremony of Delhi Shabdotsav 2026, a three-day festival celebrating Indian literature and culture, is set to take place at the National Stadium today, with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expected to grace the occasion, as confirmed by an official.
This festival will showcase over 100 distinguished speakers, such as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Sunil Ambekar, Manmohan Vaidya, and Sachchidanand Joshi. Attendees can look forward to more than 40 book launches, six cultural performances, and two sessions dedicated to poetry.
Previously, after the event's poster unveiling on December 29, CM Gupta received an update from Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra regarding the festival’s agenda and promotional activities.
CM Gupta shared on X, “After the launch of the ‘Delhi Shabdotsav’ poster, our organizing team convened under the leadership of my Cabinet colleague, Shri @KapilMishra_IND ji.”
“From January 2 to 4, esteemed intellectuals, authors, and speakers from all over the nation will engage in ‘Delhi Shabdotsav’, which is organized by the Delhi Government and Suruchi Prakashan at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. The program will also include book launches, cultural displays, and a poetry conclave,” CM Gupta further noted on X.
On this notable occasion, CM Gupta’s Cabinet colleague Ashish Sood, along with MLAs Abhay Verma and Rajkumar Bhatia, and other esteemed guests will be present.
Earlier this week, Delhi Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra announced the collaboration between the Department and a publishing house to host the nation's largest literature and cultural celebration, Delhi Shabdotsav, on January 2, 3, and 4 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
“Students from nearly 40 universities in the Delhi NCR region will also participate in this cultural extravaganza,” he stated.
Mishra elaborated that the event will feature programs such as Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bhajan Sandhya, Kavi Sammelan, and Somnath Jyotirlinga Darshan.
He also mentioned that the Delhi Chief Minister will inaugurate the festival, and that Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma will also be in attendance.
