New Delhi, April 21 (NationPress) On the eve of World Earth Day, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced on Monday that the government is gearing up to reveal its Pollution Action Strategy 2025-26 next week.
The strategy is expected to include initiatives such as the installation of mist sprayers, more rigorous enforcement of pollution control regulations, and an increase in the number of electric buses.
He mentioned that on World Earth Day, the Delhi government will also introduce a new fleet of 255 nine-metre, eco-friendly neighbourhood electric buses named DEVI – Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchanges.
“These buses will be a present for the residents of Delhi from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav,” he stated.
Discussing the government’s approach to combat pollution, Sirsa remarked, “Just as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the Heat Action Plan 2025 today, we will present a comprehensive strategy for addressing pollution in the city next week.”
Emphasizing the significance of the Heat Action Plan, Sirsa noted the necessity of protecting lives and expressed confidence in its success.
“Whether it involves improving drinking water services or reconsidering school timings for children, we believe our strategy will be effective,” he said.
On the topic of World Earth Day, Sirsa shared that this annual event, occurring on April 22, encourages individuals to voluntarily turn off all non-essential electrical devices to benefit the environment.
On the political landscape, Sirsa remarked that the AAP’s choice not to participate in the Mayor election on April 25 signifies an acknowledgment of defeat by the party.
“Have they ever had the support to win the elections?” questioned Sirsa, suggesting that AAP leaders fear the exposure of scams involving the AAP Government and councillors by the BJP.
Targeting the Congress, Sirsa stated that the party seems set to achieve a world record for electoral losses by opting to run for the Mayoral election despite lacking the necessary support in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
