New Delhi, Sep 1 (NationPress) The Delhi Transport Minister, Pankaj Kumar Singh, conducted a review of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) operations on Monday, engaging with officials to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing service efficiency for commuters.
“It is essential that bus services are organized and optimized to ensure passengers can travel in comfort and punctually, with less congestion. The scheduling of DTC buses needs to be adjusted to prevent multiple buses from running along the same route at the same time,” he emphasized.
The Minister instructed the Regional Manager of DTC that the adjustment of routes and timely operations will not only serve commuters better but will also have a positive effect on DTC's financial performance.
“Buses must adhere to their routes within the allotted time to boost operational efficiency. The increased revenue will allow for the procurement of additional buses, thereby expanding the fleet for the benefit of the public,” Singh stated.
As part of this initiative, DTC depots will undergo restructuring to facilitate improved fleet management and strict schedule adherence. These strategies are anticipated to enhance operational efficiency, enrich the commuter experience, and fortify the financial stability of the corporation, he noted.
The Minister also highlighted the urgency of expediting the addition of new electric buses to offer residents modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation options. “The launch of non-polluting electric buses will be a significant leap towards establishing Delhi as the EV capital of India,” he remarked.
In discussing the broader objectives, Singh stated, “We are not merely implementing improvements; we are crafting the future of public transportation in Delhi. Our ambition is to furnish citizens with a dependable, efficient, and world-class travel experience. These initiatives exemplify our dedication to digital modernization, public convenience, and environmental responsibility.”
The Delhi government intends to set the Capital as a benchmark for urban mobility—aiming to decrease pollution and traffic congestion while enhancing the living standards of its inhabitants, he concluded.
