Ghaziabad/Delhi, July 11 (NationPress) Temples dedicated to Shiva were beautifully decorated with flowers as the sacred month of Shravan, commonly referred to as Sawan, commenced on Friday. Throughout Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Meerut, the air was filled with the resonant chants of Bam Bam Bhole, Har Har Mahadev, Jai Bhole ki, and Om Namah Shivay.
Long lines of worshippers gathered at the Augadhnath Mandir in Meerut and the Doodheshwar Nath Mandir in Ghaziabad. The Shiva temples across Delhi were bustling with devotees and their families, all eager to participate in the festivities.
During the auspicious month of Sawan, the Rudrabhishek ceremony, an offering made to Lord Shiva, is conducted in temples, believed to shower blessings upon those who participate.
In the Rudrabhishek ritual, worshippers adorn the Shivling with milk, sacred Ganga water, clarified butter, buura (sugar powder), and curd.
It is said that the Shivling at Doodheshwar Nath Mandir is svayambhu (self-manifested), and devotion to it is believed to fulfill all wishes of the worshippers.
Since dawn, devotees have been flocking to the temple's sanctum sanctorum, with the renowned temple attracting worshippers from Ghaziabad and surrounding regions.
Thousands of Kanwariyas bring sacred Ganga water to the Shiva temple. During the Kanwar Yatra, devotees transport holy water from the Ganges to present as an offering to Lord Shiva.
The administration has made extensive preparations for the Kanwar Yatra.
In a historic temple located in Tughlaqabad, Delhi, devotees honored Lord Shiva with milk and Bilva patra.
The temple priest noted that with the arrival of the Shravan month, a significant increase in the number of visitors to the temple is expected.
Since 4 a.m., worshippers have been arriving to offer water to Lord Shiva.
Security personnel were deployed at strategic locations to avert any unfortunate incidents. Refreshment stalls, resting areas, and medical camps have been established to ensure the comfort of Kanwariyas.
Extending her sincere wishes to all residents of Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her hopes that the month brings peace, devotion, and the essence of Shiva into everyone’s lives.
She assured that throughout Shravan, the Delhi government has organized a reliable and transparent service system for the convenience of the devoted Kanwariyas, which includes drinking water, medical assistance, rest areas, and road arrangements.
The CM posted on her X account: "Our commitment is to respect every faith, facilitate convenience at every juncture, and provide a divine, Shiva-like experience for every Kanwar. Om Namah Shivay. Har Har Mahadev."
