From mountain roads in Pithoragarh to flood-battered shops in Uttarkashi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has cleared a sweeping package of funds spanning rural connectivity, religious heritage, and disaster relief — touching nearly every corner of Uttarakhand in a single administrative sweep on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

Roads cut into the hills: Pithoragarh and Champawat get connected

The biggest connectivity push goes to Pithoragarh district, where ₹79.87 lakh has been sanctioned to build a cement-concrete (CC) link road from Nainipatal in Gram Panchayat Sirad to Naaghar Inter College in the Didihat assembly constituency. For students and villagers navigating steep Kumaon terrain, this is not an abstract allocation — it is the difference between a road and a footpath.

In Champawat district, two separate road works have been cleared: a link road from Selagad to Kotkendri in the Champawat assembly segment for ₹40.53 lakh, and ₹3.89 crore approved for interlocking tile construction on internal village paths in Gram Panchayat Mairoli and Gram Panchayat Badpas — with the first instalment of ₹1.87 crore released immediately.

Temple restoration and a freedom fighter's statue

A significant portion of the package is directed at Uttarakhand's deep tradition of religious heritage. Mostamanu Temple in the Pithoragarh assembly area receives a residual amount of ₹39.31 lakh for beautification. The ancient Saim Temple at Kushail Rasepata, also in Pithoragarh district, gets ₹59.80 lakh for restoration and beautification.

In Pauri district's Yamkeshwar constituency, the Maa Bal Kunwari Mata Temple at Kathud Bada Devikhaal under Dwarikhaal development block receives a residual ₹39.30 lakh against a total sanction of ₹72.67 lakh. The Bhimadevi Temple at Bhetabadoli in Dhauladevi block, Almora's Jageshwar constituency, gets the package's single largest temple allocation: ₹98.50 lakh. In Salt constituency, Almora, the Malli Manila Temple is sanctioned ₹98.80 lakh for beautification.

In Udham Singh Nagar's Gadarpur constituency, ₹2.54 crore has been approved for construction of the Govind Temple/Dharamshala, Masit Temple/Dharamshala, and a temple near the pond in villages Rambagh Haripura and Panchanpur — with a first instalment of ₹1.01 crore sanctioned now.

Champawat also sees a cultural milestone: ₹32.49 lakh is approved to install a statue honouring late Kalyan Singh Adhikari, a freedom fighter from Barakot development block in Lohaghat constituency.

AMRUT canal and post-disaster relief in Uttarkashi

Under the AMRUT Yojana — the Centre's urban infrastructure mission — ₹4.95 crore has been sanctioned for the strengthening and modernisation of the Bijapur Canal Head, a water infrastructure project with direct bearing on irrigation and urban water supply.

The package also addresses the human cost of Uttarakhand's monsoon vulnerability. In Dharali village, Bhatwadi tehsil, Uttarkashi district, natural disaster damaged commercial establishments belonging to 13 affected persons. Against a total relief entitlement of ₹1.24 crore, three beneficiaries had already received ₹3.12 lakh. CM Dhami has now approved the remaining ₹1.21 crore from the Chief Minister Relief Fund — ensuring the rest of the affected families are not left waiting through another monsoon season.

With roads, temples, a canal, and disaster relief all moving in a single announcement, the Dhami government signals that routine administrative delivery — not just headline projects — remains its primary language of governance in the hills.
