Bengaluru, Oct 27 (NationPress) Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced on Monday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to present its findings in the high-profile Dharmasthala case by October 31.
Addressing journalists in Bengaluru, HM Parameshwara noted, “The SIT has communicated that it will finalize the report by the close of October. It is anticipated to be submitted by October 31. If that deadline is missed, I believe it will be ready within a day or two. We have requested a thorough and conclusive report.”
“The SIT has indicated that the report will be released pending the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and chemical analysis results. They were also awaiting the findings regarding the excavated bones,” Parameshwara elaborated.
In a related development, the SIT has served notices to activists Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, Girish Mattennavar, and T. Jayanth, instructing them to meet with the Investigating Officer on Monday. These individuals have been actively protesting against the Dharmasthala temple authorities, specifically targeting Dharmadhikari and BJP Rajya Sabha member Veerendra Heggade and his family.
Additionally, Sujata Bhat, who previously alleged that her daughter, an MBBS student, went missing under dubious circumstances in Dharmasthala, has been issued a notice. She initially claimed foul play but later retracted her statement, admitting to false allegations and expressing a desire to apologize.
The SIT, which is investigating this sensational case, is preparing to file a chargesheet in court by the end of October after concluding its inquiry, taking statements, and compiling evidence and related documents.
The examination into the alleged mass murder case is approaching its conclusion, as the agency has reportedly found no substantial evidence implicating temple authorities in the serious accusations of mass killings of women, girls, and elderly individuals over the last decade.
The detained complainant, Chinnaiah, had previously presented a skull to support his claims.
After a thorough excavation operation in Dharmasthala, the SIT arrested Chinnaiah for misleading law enforcement and the court. The SIT is also considering actions against activists and YouTubers who have been vocal in their opposition to the temple authorities.
On July 11, Chinnaiah, who alleged that he was coerced into burying numerous bodies of women who were raped and murdered in Dharmasthala village, appeared in a court in Karnataka’s Mangaluru district to record his statement. He submitted his testimony under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) before Principal Civil Judge and First Class Judicial Magistrate Sandesh K.
Accompanied by a team of lawyers and police, he entered the courtroom with his face concealed. This incident ignited significant controversy. He requested that the police exhume the bodies in his presence and sought protection for himself and his family.
Chinnaiah further claimed that the bodies of the women exhibited clear signs of sexual assault, being discovered without clothing or undergarments and showing injuries indicative of violent acts. These revelations have shocked the state.
A retired Supreme Court judge and various activists have called for a SIT investigation overseen by the Supreme Court or High Court regarding the disturbing murders involving numerous women and others.
