Bhopal, Nov 21 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, has criticized the state administration for failing to uphold the necessary protocols for former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar upon his arrival at Bhopal Airport on Friday, labeling it an “open violation.”
Dhankhar was in Bhopal to attend the launch of a new book by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and Sah Sarkaryawah Manmohan Vaidya at Ravindra Bhavan.
Upon Dhankhar's arrival, Singh expressed his astonishment to reporters, noting that not a single state minister was present to welcome him at Raja Bhoj Airport.
“It is regrettable that Jagdeep Dhankhar, who championed the BJP and RSS in the Rajya Sabha, was not greeted by any minister at the airport. This amounts to an open breach of VIP protocol. The Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, should have personally welcomed him,”
he stated.
Singh emphasized that Dhankhar, having served as Vice President, is not an ordinary individual, questioning, “If Jagdeep Dhankhar was unworthy of that esteemed position, why was he appointed there?”
Furthermore, Singh mentioned that he had requested a meeting with Dhankhar during his Bhopal visit to check on his well-being, but was denied the opportunity to meet the former Vice President.
“I feel a sense of sympathy for Dhankhar, as he is a notable farmer leader and the former Chairman of the Upper House,” Singh added.
In his first public appearance since resigning from the Vice Presidency in July 2025 due to health issues, Jagdeep Dhankhar attended a book release event in Bhopal on Friday.
The 74-year-old leader stepped down on July 21 after medical advice following a cardiac incident earlier this year, unveiling “Hum aur Yeh Vishwa” (We and This World), authored by Manmohan Vaidya.
The event was held at the vast Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre and attracted a sizable audience, including Sangh ideologues, intellectuals, and supporters of BJP-RSS, marking Dhankhar’s re-entry into public life after months of silence post his abrupt departure from constitutional duties.
