Bhopal, March 3 (NationPress) Prominent Congress figure and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh has reached out to Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel in a letter addressing serious concerns about suspected irregularities in B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) and M.Ed (Master of Education) programs within the state.

In his correspondence with Governor Patel, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh pointed out that, similar to the nursing colleges scam, significant irregularities have been identified in both B.Ed and M.Ed programs.

Singh emphasized that numerous private institutions are functioning amidst considerable irregularities.

He also conveyed that he has received reports indicating that individuals pursuing B.Ed and M.Ed degrees are being appointed as faculty and instructors, which could lead to significant irregularities that require immediate intervention.

Singh mentioned that the Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has recently commenced an inquiry into the alleged irregularities found in various colleges across Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, and notices have been dispatched to request responses.

"This could potentially escalate into a major scandal within the state's educational framework, akin to the nursing colleges scam; therefore, a thorough investigation should be conducted under the guidance of a team of senior officials. I urge you to direct the state government to facilitate a fair investigation into this matter," Singh stated in his letter to Governor Patel.

The EOW initiated its investigation after receiving complaints regarding irregularities in multiple private colleges located in Indore, Dhar, Khargone, Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, and other districts throughout the state.

During initial investigations, the EOW uncovered various irregularities, such as inadequate infrastructure and exorbitant fees, leading to notices being issued to the faculty members.

Notices have also been sent to the universities with which these colleges are affiliated.

The nursing colleges scam, which has raised further scrutiny regarding the state's educational system, is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), overseen by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Recently, the High Court mandated the state government to provide a list of all officials from the Indian Nursing Council, Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council, and Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University responsible for granting recognition and affiliation to nursing institutions and ineligible colleges.
