Patna, Feb 26 (NationPress) BJP Bihar president Dilip Jaiswal declared on Wednesday that he has stepped down from his role as Revenue and Land Reforms Minister within the Nitish Kumar administration.
In accordance with the BJP's 'one person, one post policy', Jaiswal, who has also been appointed as the BJP state president, stated that holding both roles contradicts the party's principles.
"The BJP upholds a policy of one person one post, and as such, I resigned from my cabinet minister position, but I will continue to lead the BJP in Bihar as state president," Jaiswal informed IANS in Patna.
While discussing his accomplishments as Minister, he highlighted the digitisation of 14 crore pages pertaining to government records within his department.
"I implemented significant reforms in land administration and prioritized transparency and efficiency in governance. People will remember me for my integrity," Jaiswal remarked.
"I also eradicated corruption in the department, and the public will acknowledge my efforts in this area," he added.
When questioned about the potential cabinet expansion of the Nitish Kumar government, Jaiswal refrained from making direct comments, stating that the decision lies with the Chief Minister.
"It is the privilege of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to decide when the cabinet expansion will occur in Bihar," Jaiswal noted.
Earlier in the day, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary met with Nitish Kumar to deliberate on the cabinet expansion.
Jaiswal confirmed the meeting between Choudhary and Nitish Kumar at the Chief Minister's residence.
"We are also convening with Samrat Choudhary at his Patna residence to address several issues," Jaiswal stated.
Bihar's 243-member Assembly permits a maximum of 36 ministers. Currently, there are 30 ministers in the Nitish Kumar government.
A cabinet expansion could potentially introduce six new ministers. While BJP leaders remain tight-lipped, significant political changes are anticipated in Bihar in the near future.
Jaiswal reiterated that his resignation aligns with the BJP's commitment to internal discipline and assured that he will concentrate on fortifying the party ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections.
