Dissatisfaction Regarding Department Allocations Causes Delays in Ministerial Transitions in Fadnavis Cabinet

Mumbai, Jan 1 (NationPress) Among the 39 ministers inducted into the Cabinet led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on December 15, around six ministers have not yet assumed their departmental responsibilities. According to sources within the government, the hold-up is attributed to dissatisfaction concerning the allocation of lucrative departments, with some ministers having taken vacations with their families.
On Wednesday, Makrand Patil, the relief and rehabilitation minister; Narahari Zirwal, the Food and Drug Administration minister; and Meghana Sakore-Bordikar, the minister of state for public health and energy, officially took charge of their departments at their designated chambers in Mantralaya.
Insiders indicate that the remaining six ministers are expected to assume their duties either this week or next week.
Chief Minister Fadnavis has scheduled a cabinet meeting for Thursday, although these ministers may be absent from the meeting. Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister who is currently on vacation abroad, is also anticipated to miss the Thursday cabinet meeting.
NCP minister Dattamama Bharne, elected from the Indapur constituency, has publicly voiced his dissatisfaction regarding the allocation of the ministries of sports, minority affairs, and Aukaf.
On Wednesday, Bharne visited Mantralaya to inspect the cabin assigned to him but did not take charge. He is expected to assume his duties either on Thursday or shortly thereafter.
Additionally, ministers from the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP are currently in competition for the district guardian minister posts.
Fadnavis stated last week that decisions would be made soon following discussions among the three parties. Ajit Pawar is eager to continue as the Pune district guardian minister, while BJP minister Chandrakant Patil is also a strong contender for the same position.
Four ministers from Satara, including Makrand Patil, Shambhuraj Desai, Makarand Patil, and Jaykumar Gore, are also keen on becoming the district guardian minister. The BJP has expressed interest in securing the Thane district guardian minister post, yet the Shiv Sena has indicated that it should be held by none other than Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Fadnavis has already expressed his desire to serve as the Gadchiroli district guardian minister.
Meanwhile, the NCP-SP and Shiv Sena UBT have criticized the MahaYuti for its lack of planning in governmental operations, which they believe has resulted in ministers taking excessive time to assume control of their respective ministries.
NCP-SP chief spokesman Mahesh Tapase asserted that the state’s financial situation is worsening as the government has yet to commence its work.
Shiv Sena-UBT spokesman Anand Dube condemned the current circumstances, stating that despite a strong majority, the disagreements among the three ruling partners appear to be causing delays in ministers taking charge and the allocation of districts among the three parties for the position of district guardian minister.
