Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 14 (NationPress) The Haryana Human Rights Commission has adopted a firm stance regarding the allegations that a young doctor was set ablaze in a university room located in Hisar, emphasizing that there will be no tolerance for any compromises regarding the due process of justice.
As per a complaint submitted to the commission by the victim's mother, Gayatri Yadav, she was informed on April 24, 2025, that Udesh Kumar had allegedly ignited her daughter in his university room.
A first information report (FIR) was subsequently filed.
However, the complainant has claimed that the police, in collusion with the accused, allowed his release, and no substantial action has been taken thus far.
Gayatri Yadav is now seeking justice from the commission and has called for a fair and impartial investigation.
In light of this serious issue, commission member Deep Bhatia had previously requested a new status report.
Following his directives, the case was assigned to the state Crime Branch in Bhondsi, Gurugram.
During the investigation, the involved parties were interrogated on December 12.
Later, on December 29, the case file was submitted to the state police complaint authority in Panchkula, and the scene of the incident was examined on January 12.
Nevertheless, the commission's order clearly stated that mere procedural formalities would not suffice.
Commission Assistant Registrar Puneet Arora disclosed that, to evaluate the fairness, transparency, and progress of the investigation, the rights commission has instructed the officer in charge of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to personally attend the next hearing date on April 6 with the complete original investigation records, including all pertinent documents and material evidence.
Commission member Bhatia noted that if any negligence, bias, or intentional laxity is discovered during the investigation, strict legal action will be pursued against the involved officials. He emphasized that the dignity of human life and the integrity of the legal process are of utmost importance.
