Doda, June 17 (NationPress) In light of the intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, the administration of J&K's Doda has announced measures to safeguard the students from the area who are currently engaged in their studies in Iran.
Officials have confirmed that a minimum of seven students from Doda district are enrolled in MBBS programs in Iran and are currently affected by the ongoing hostilities.
Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh stated in an interview with IANS, "The district administration is maintaining ongoing communication with the families of the students and is collaborating with the Indian Embassy to ensure their safety. Our top priority is the welfare of our students. We are working hand in hand with the families and the embassy, which has relocated the students to a secure area."
In support of this initiative, the Doda administration has established a dedicated helpline for families to report the status of their loved ones in Iran. Residents are encouraged to provide all necessary information promptly to facilitate evacuation and safety measures.
The helpline number, which has been set up in the control room of the DC's office, is +91 95967 76203.
A standardized data collection format has also been circulated to streamline information gathering, reaching both official and public channels.
"Community members are urged to reach out to us immediately if they know of any individuals who might be in Iran. Currently, we have details of seven students, and arrangements are being made for their ongoing safety. However, there could be others, including tourists, whose information we have not yet received," Singh added.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the administration remains in regular contact with the families of the students.
"Our Emergency Operation Centre is operational, and we are ready to respond to any new developments. The Indian Embassy is fully engaged, and together we aim to ensure the safety of not just the students but all Indian citizens in the area," Singh told IANS.
An advisory and a specialized Excel form have also been disseminated to collect structured data on individuals who may still be in the conflict zone. Singh urged the public to stay alert and proactive in sharing information.
"This message is directed to all Indians in conflict zones: Indian embassies are diligently working to ensure your safety. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to your local district administration. We are dedicated to ensuring that every citizen returns home safely," Singh concluded.
