Dehradun, June 9 (NationPress) As the BJP-led NDA government celebrates 11 years at the helm, 84-year-old Padma Shri recipient and esteemed plastic surgeon Dr. Yogi Aeron commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's grassroots methodology and inclusive vision, attributing it to the profound transformation in governance and the acknowledgment of genuine contributors to society.
Based in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Dr. Aeron is widely recognized for providing complimentary treatment to the underprivileged.
Honored with the Padma Shri for his humanitarian efforts, Dr. Aeron shared with IANS that accolades were previously reserved for the elite, but under PM Modi's direction, grassroots activists and unsung heroes are finally receiving the recognition they deserve.
"Previously, prestigious awards like the Padma Shri were bestowed only upon VVIPs, but now individuals operating at the grassroots level, who achieve the seemingly impossible through their diligence and skills, are honored. I never anticipated receiving the Padma Shri," Dr. Aeron expressed, adding that PM Modi's approach has "motivated individuals like us to strive harder."
Applauding the Prime Minister's vision, he stated, "Elevating only the VVIPs holds no value; however, honoring those making a significant impact at smaller scales results in major change. If Modi continues as Prime Minister for another 10 to 20 years, our nation will reach even greater heights."
Reflecting on his journey in plastic surgery, Dr. Aeron remarked he was "not an exceptional student" but a talented artist—an attribute that facilitated his success in the field.
"Plastic surgery is an art," he elaborated, attributing the heightened public awareness about it to initiatives like Ayushman Bharat.
"My family resides in America, yet there is no initiative akin to Ayushman Bharat there. This program has provided the underprivileged with a sense of security. Previously, they struggled to access top doctors, but now they receive quality treatment," he noted.
Dr. Aeron also commended the increased public health consciousness under the Modi administration.
"In the past, people hesitated to receive Polio vaccinations, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, they eagerly stepped forward to get vaccinated. That reflects the level of awareness now," he stated.
Having observed India's evolution over the last eight decades, Dr. Aeron reminisced about a time when healthcare access was limited.
"Once, there was one doctor for thousands; today, numerous health facilities have emerged, significantly enhancing healthcare provisions," he shared.
As the government commemorates 11 years of PM Modi's governance, the Prime Minister recently reaffirmed his administration's dedication to poverty reduction, health improvements, infrastructural development, women's empowerment, and inclusive growth.
Notably, PM Modi stands as one of India's longest-serving leaders, having assumed office in May 2014 after previously serving as Gujarat's Chief Minister from 2001 to 2014.
