Dumper Tragedy Claims Lives of Three, Including Two Toddlers, in Pune

Pune (Maharashtra), Dec 23 (NationPress) In a devastating event, three individuals, including two toddlers, were tragically killed when a fast-moving dumper ran over nine people sleeping on the pavement early Monday morning.

The police reported that the accident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in Wagholi, close to Kesnand Phata, when a dumper belonging to a private firm in Pune swerved onto the sidewalk and struck the victims, who were all laborers resting in makeshift shelters.

Three individuals, comprising two children and one adult, died at the scene, while another six suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate that the dumper's driver may have been under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle, which is reportedly owned by Buildwell Enterprises, while traveling from Pune to Wagholi.

The deceased include one-year-old Vaibhavi Ritesh Pawar, her two-year-old brother Vaibhav Ritesh Pawar, and a 30-year-old man named Rinesh N. Pawar. They were all asleep together when the incident occurred.

The remaining six injured individuals are currently in critical condition and have been admitted to Sassoon Hospital.

Local residents reported that approximately a dozen laborers had arrived from Amravati the previous day to seek employment in various construction projects in the area.

The local police and authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event, as eyewitnesses claim that the driver appeared to be intoxicated.

The scene of the accident was described as chaotic, with the bodies of the victims and the injured lying amidst blood and personal belongings scattered around, resembling a war zone.

Subsequently, police took measures to remove the dumper, completed the necessary formalities, and cleared the area, while locals expressed their outrage on social media.
