“It was a pleasure to meet US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor today in New Delhi. Our discussion encompassed numerous aspects of our partnership. I welcomed him and conveyed my belief that he would aid in the fortification of India - US relations, ” EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
On Wednesday, Gor characterized the India-US defence partnership as robust, noting that the decade-long agreement signed in 2025 will further solidify their ties. He made these remarks following a meeting with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
In a post on X, Gor stated, “Just last year, the United States and India formalized a 10-year defence agreement that will greatly enhance our Defence Partnership. Joint exercises will persist, and additional sales are underway. This is a strong relationship! Thank you for hosting us, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.”
Earlier this week, Gor also participated in India's Republic Day festivities in New Delhi, calling it a “celebration of India’s Constitution and democratic spirit.”
“Happy Republic Day, India! It was an honor to attend the Republic Day Parade for the first time, celebrating India’s Constitution and democratic values. I was thrilled to see US-made aircraft flying in the Indian sky, a powerful representation of the strength of the US-India strategic partnership,” he posted on X.
EAM Jaishankar also met a US Congressional delegation consisting of Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, alongside Sergio Gor, in New Delhi on January 25. They deliberated on enhancing bilateral relations, developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Following their discussions, EAM Jaishankar posted on X: “A productive interaction with the US Congressional Delegation comprising Representatives Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, along with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. We discussed various aspects of India US ties, the Indo-Pacific, and the Ukraine conflict. Congressional interactions have always been a vital component of our relationship.”
