"India and the UK maintain a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has been reinforced across various sectors including defense and security, trade and economy, health, education, and people-to-people connections. During his visit, EAM will engage in discussions with his counterpart, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, and will also meet with several dignitaries as well as members of the Indian community," stated the MEA.
"India and Ireland enjoy amicable bilateral relations rooted in shared democratic values, cultural connections, and expanding economic interactions. EAM will confer with his Irish counterpart, Simon Harris, and other dignitaries along with members of the Indian community during his stay in Ireland on March 6-7. EAM's visit aims to rejuvenate India's amicable relations with both the UK and Ireland," it continued.
EAM Jaishankar and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy previously convened in Rome last November, prior to the Outreach session of the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting hosted by Italy, where India was invited as a guest nation.
"I appreciate the consistent momentum in the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. We discussed enhancing cooperation in technology, green energy, trade, mobility, as well as the ongoing developments in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia," the EAM shared on X following his meeting with Lammy on November 25.
This meeting occurred shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British PM Keir Starmer met at the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, reaffirming their commitment to bolster the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
During the meeting, PM Modi announced the establishment of two new Consulates General of India in the UK, located in Belfast and Manchester, describing his meeting with Starmer as an "extremely productive" encounter.
"For India, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the UK holds significant importance. In the upcoming years, we are keen to collaborate closely in domains such as technology, green energy, security, and innovation. We also aim to enhance trade and cultural linkages," commented Prime Minister Modi after their initial meeting.
