Mumbai, Feb 11 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde is set to receive the esteemed Mahadji Shinde Rashtriya Gaurav Award, which is awarded by the Pune-based Sarhad Institute.

The award presentation will take place in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar, who also chairs the 98th All India Marathi Literary Conference and is a senior leader of the NCP, will bestow the award upon Deputy CM Shinde.

The ceremony will feature notable attendees including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Murli Dhar Mohol, esteemed writer Sadanand More, and renowned Padma Bhushan awardee sculptor Ram Sutar as the chief guests.

The Mahadji Shinde Rashtriya Gaurav Award consists of a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh, an honour certificate, a commemorative memento, and the traditional Shindeshahi turban.

During the All India Marathi Literary Conference, organized by the Sarhad Institute, several distinguished figures from various sectors who have made substantial contributions in Delhi will also be recognized.

Historically, Mahadji Shinde was a significant military leader and strategist during the Maratha Empire.

Born in 1730, he led the Shinde dynasty, which evolved into the Scindia dynasty of Gwalior. Following the Battle of Panipat, Mahadji Shinde was instrumental in reinstating Maratha dominance in Northern India.

The Deputy CM's office stated: "Throughout his two-and-a-half-year term as Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde acted not merely as a 'Chief Minister' but as a 'Common Man', implementing vital welfare initiatives for farmers, workers, women, senior citizens, and youth across Maharashtra. His contributions have gained national recognition, leading the Sarhad Institute to honour him with the Mahadji Shinde Rashtriya Gaurav Award."
