Mumbai, February 12 (NationPress) Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut criticized NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar for attending the event where the esteemed Mahadji Shinde Rashtra Gaurav award was presented to former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Raut, who has maintained a positive relationship with Pawar, voiced his discontent regarding Pawar honoring “a person who dismantled the Shiv Sena.”

Shinde, currently serving as the deputy chief minister in the Devendra Fadnavis-led cabinet, received the Mahadik Shinde Rashtriya Gaurav Anwar in Delhi from Sharad Pawar, who is presiding over the 98th All India Marathi Literary Conference scheduled from February 21 to 28.

“The political landscape in Maharashtra is taking an unusual turn. Eknath Shinde undermined the Maharashtra government through deception. We believe that Sharad Pawar should have abstained from attending Shinde's event,” Raut remarked, making a rare critique of Pawar.

“It is inappropriate to reward traitors,” he added. “Sharad Pawar, you are a respected senior leader, and we hold you in esteem. However, the Shiv Sena established by the late Balasaheb Thackeray was dismantled by a colleague of Amit Shah. By honoring such individuals, Pawar Saheb, we are also aware of the political game,” Raut noted. He alleged that Pawar has not only recognized Shinde but also Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“Certain actions should be avoided in politics. Sharad Pawar seems misinformed about Thane. Eknath Shinde entered Thane politics late, and the decline of Thane began subsequently,” he claimed.

In response, NCP-SP MP Amol Kolhe defended Raut, stating that Sharad Pawar exemplified statesmanship by attending the event.

During the ceremony, Pawar praised Eknath Shinde, stating that his contributions significantly guide the state’s politics positively. “Eknath Shinde is among the few contemporary leaders well-acquainted with the challenges posed by rapid urbanization. He has engaged in political dialogue with leaders from all parties,” Pawar remarked.

In his address, Shinde expressed that the award honored the efforts of an ordinary worker, affirming his commitment to serving the common people moving forward. He reminisced about the initiatives undertaken by the state government during his tenure as chief minister.
