Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 19 (NationPress) An 80-year-old man tragically lost his life in a fire that erupted at his home in Mailasandra, located within the Kengeri police jurisdiction, during the early hours of Thursday.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Mylarappa, a resident of Thimmarayappa Circle in Mailasandra. A case has been filed at the Kengeri Police Station under Section 194(3)(iv) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and investigations are currently ongoing.
The incident reportedly took place between 2 am and 2:30 am on February 19 and was reported around 5 am. The complaint was filed by Ramya, 32, the victim's granddaughter, who lives with her family in the same neighborhood.
In her report, Ramya noted that her grandfather, Mylarappa, lived alone in an adjacent house. He had previously undergone an amputation of his left leg due to gangrene, which limited his mobility. She regularly attended to his daily needs and meals.
On the evening of February 18, around 11 pm, she visited him to deliver dinner. At that time, he expressed discomfort and requested a tablet for loose motion. After providing the medicine, she returned home, leaving her brother, Kumar (also known as Ramakrishna), with him.
At approximately 2:20 am on February 19, a relative notified the family about the fire at Mylarappa’s residence. Ramya, along with her family and neighbors, hurried to the scene only to find the house engulfed in flames. They worked together to extinguish the fire and removed roof sheets for better access. Unfortunately, her husband later entered the premises and discovered Mylarappa deceased, having suffered severe burn injuries.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the elderly man's death.
