New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) A 27-year-old man has been apprehended for the alleged assault and sexual abuse of a 70-year-old woman at her home in Ranjit Nagar, central Delhi, as confirmed by Delhi Police officials on Wednesday. Remarkably, this case was resolved within 48 hours of the unfortunate event.

On April 11, authorities received a PCR call regarding the physical mistreatment of the elderly woman at her residence. A team from Ranjit Nagar Police Station promptly arrived at the location and transported the victim to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Patel Nagar, where a thorough medico-legal examination was conducted. Initial reports indicated injuries consistent with a physical attack, prompting the registration of a case under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The next day, the victim's daughter approached law enforcement and alleged that the accused had also sexually assaulted her mother during the incident. Following this new allegation, the victim was taken for another medical examination, which confirmed signs of sexual assault. Consequently, additional charges concerning sexual offenses were added to the FIR.

In her testimony, the victim recounted that she first met the accused on April 9, when he visited her home under the guise of requesting water. Just two days later, he allegedly returned, forcibly entered her residence, and attacked her.

To solve this case swiftly, a dedicated police team was assembled under the guidance of senior officials. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area, which showed a suspicious individual entering and exiting the victim's home around the time of the assault.

Utilizing a combination of CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and tips from local informants, police tracked the suspect's movements. Acting on specific intelligence, the accused, identified as Mukesh—a resident of Baljeet Nagar—was arrested on April 13 from the Pandav Nagar vicinity.

During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed, stating that after his initial visit to the victim's home, he returned with the intent to commit the crime.

Authorities reported that the accused was presented in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, Rohit Rajbir Singh, emphasized that the prompt and coordinated efforts of the police team facilitated a timely resolution to the case. He noted that the effective response, judicious use of surveillance, and thorough investigation underscore the police's commitment to tackling heinous crimes.
