Family members and local residents discovered the child bleeding from her private areas. She was promptly taken to a local hospital for urgent medical care.
In the aftermath of the incident, the child's family filed a report at the Beliaghata police station.
The police began an investigation, and upon identifying the crime scene, it was determined to fall under the jurisdiction of the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Consequently, the Sealdah GRP was notified of the situation. Later that night, the Beliaghata Police arrested the accused and transferred him to the GRP.
The authorities are proceeding with a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO). The detained individual is slated to appear in the Sealdah court.
“Following the report, our officers promptly commenced an investigation. Subsequently, the suspect was arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting the three-year-old.
