Eleven Notorious Maoists Surrender in Front of Fadnavis in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra

Gadchiroli, Jan 1 (NationPress) On the first day of the New Year, a total of eleven Maoists, featuring a prominent leader, surrendered in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This event occurred in Gadchiroli district on Wednesday.

Among those who surrendered, there were eight women and three men, with two couples included in the group. Collectively, these individuals had outstanding rewards exceeding Rs 1 crore in Maharashtra, with the Chhattisgarh government also offering rewards for them.

As per the Chief Minister's Office, one of the surrendered Maoists, Tarakka, is the leader of the Dandakaranya Zonal Committee and the spouse of Bhupati. Tarakka has been involved in the Naxalite movement for an extensive period of 34 years. The group included three division committee members, one deputy commander, and two area committee members. They received financial assistance totaling Rs 86 lakh for their future sustenance.

During the election code of conduct, five Maoists were killed. In 2024, a total of 24 Maoists were eliminated, and 18 Maoists were apprehended. Over the last six months, 27 hardcore Maoists have reintegrated into society.

“The north region of Gadchiroli has been liberated from Maoism, and we are optimistic that soon the south will follow suit. In the past four years, not a single youth or girl has joined the Maoist movement, which is a remarkable accomplishment. Eleven villages have declared a ban on Naxalites. The C-60 unit has gained the trust of the community. Presently, no one is willing to engage in anti-constitutional activities, which is a source of joy. The populace has recognized that justice can only be achieved through the Indian Constitution, not through Maoist ideologies,” Fadnavis stated, adding that Gadchiroli will soon gain the status of a Steel City.

“Support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is invaluable in this initiative. The battle against Maoism transcends state borders, with Maharashtra taking action beyond its own territory,” Fadnavis assured, promising full rehabilitation for the surrendered Maoists.

Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated a bus service connecting Aheri to Gardewada and also took a ride on that bus.

He launched several projects by Lloyds Metals at Konsari, including a DII plant with an investment of Rs 400 crore creating 700 jobs, a pellet plant and slurry pipeline with an investment of Rs 3000 crore generating 1000 jobs, and an iron ore grinding plant at Hedri, Etapalli with an investment of Rs 2700 crore providing 1500 jobs. A Vanya Garment Unit with an investment of Rs 20 crore will create 600 jobs.

CM Fadnavis also inaugurated Lloyds Kali Ammal Hospital and Lloyds Raj Vidyaniketan CBSE School, which will provide education for around 1200 students. Additionally, residences for police, a gymkhana, and a kindergarten were inaugurated. Lloyds has also initiated a program to provide shares worth Rs 1000 crore to workers and former Maoists, thus granting them a sense of ownership. These shares were presented by the Chief Minister.

These initiatives are expected to generate an investment of Rs 6200 crore and create over 4000 jobs.

Fadnavis also introduced a green mining project in Gadchiroli. “This project will safeguard the mines, and the slurry pipeline for iron ore will conserve fuel, minimize carbon emissions, and reduce road accidents. The initiative of green mining is being implemented for the first time in Gadchiroli. Gondwana University will collaborate with an Australian university to launch mining-related courses, providing employment opportunities for the youth of Gadchiroli,” the Chief Minister's office reported.

Fadnavis also inaugurated the Gatta-Gardewada-Wangeturi road and the Tadguda Bridge, engaging with soldiers and residents in Pengunda, recognized as a particularly remote area.
