PM Modi Applauds Maharashtra Government's Developmental Efforts in Maoist-Impacted Regions

New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the Maharashtra government's initiatives aimed at fostering development in regions impacted by Maoist activities.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated, “I commend the Maharashtra Government's initiatives to facilitate comprehensive development in remote and Maoist-affected zones. This will undoubtedly enhance the 'Ease of Living' and open doors for further advancements. A heartfelt congratulations to my sisters and brothers in Gadchiroli and nearby areas!”

This commendation follows the surrender of 11 Maoists, including a senior figure, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who spent New Year's Day in Gadchiroli district.

Among those who surrendered were eight women and three men, including two couples, all of whom had collective bounties exceeding Rs 1 crore in Maharashtra, along with additional rewards from the Chhattisgarh government.

The group featured Tarakka, the leader of the Dandakaranya Zonal Committee and the spouse of Bhupati, a well-known Maoist leader. Tarakka has been involved in the Naxalite movement for 34 years.

The surrendered Maoists also included three division committee members, one deputy commander, and two area committee members. They were allocated financial assistance totaling Rs 86 lakh to aid their rehabilitation.

Over the past year, 24 Maoists have been killed and 18 apprehended in Maharashtra. In the last six months, 27 hardcore Maoists have reintegrated into society. CM Fadnavis noted that the northern part of Gadchiroli has been liberated from Maoism, with ongoing efforts to eradicate it from the southern region.

“In the past four years, not a single youth has rejoined the Maoist movement. Eleven villages have prohibited Naxalite activities, and the C-60 forces have gained the trust of the community,” stated Fadnavis, emphasizing that locals now prefer to seek justice through the Indian Constitution rather than Maoist ideology.

CM Fadnavis declared that Gadchiroli is set to evolve into a “Steel City” with the backing of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He assured that surrendered Maoists would be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.

During his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated several development projects, including a bus service from Aheri to Gardewada, a green mining initiative, and various projects by Lloyds Metals. These ventures involve substantial investments — a Rs 400 crore DII Plant at Konsari will create 700 jobs; a Rs 3,000 crore Pellet Plant and Slurry Pipeline will generate 1,000 jobs; a Rs 2,700 crore Iron Ore Grinding Plant at Hedri, Etapalli will provide 1,500 jobs; and a Rs 20 crore Vanya Garment Unit will offer 600 jobs.

Fadnavis also launched the Lloyds Kali Ammal Hospital and Lloyds Raj Vidyaniketan CBSE School, which will accommodate 1,200 students. He inaugurated housing for police, a gymkhana, and a kindergarten.

The Chief Minister engaged with villagers and security personnel in Pengunda, a highly remote area, reaffirming the government's dedication to advancing development in the region.
