Nagpur, Aug 2 (NationPress) Chief Justice B.R. Gavai emphasized that students should adopt the profound philosophies of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in guiding Indians to elevate the marginalized segments of society, in order to reach their aspirations.
He acknowledged the remarkable contributions of Dadasaheb Gaikwad, Dadasaheb Gavai, Dadasaheb Kumbhare, and Sadanand Fulzele in the formation and advancement of Dr. Ambedkar College, reminiscing about various milestones in the college's history.
This statement was made during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar College, overseen by the Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee.
He asserted that embracing Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideals and following the path he charted would serve as a genuine homage to those who devoted their lives to Dr. Ambedkar College.
The Chief Justice further recalled the enthusiastic reception from the people of Nagpur in 1981, during the Silver Jubilee year of Dhamma conversion, when Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's ashes were brought from Mumbai, showcasing the city’s essence of communal harmony. He concluded his address by reciting ‘Bhim Vandana,’ a poem by poet Suresh Bhat commemorating the Silver Jubilee Dhamma Conversion celebration.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in his address, remarked that Dr. Ambedkar College has realized the vision of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar by meeting the educational standards anticipated and making education accessible to the underprivileged, thereby transforming their lives.
He expressed confidence that this college, with a rich legacy of 60 years, will continue to enhance its journey of providing quality education, aspiring to new heights. He articulated that the college should serve as a catalyst for social transformation.
CM Fadnavis noted the importance of perpetuating Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy of fostering equality, equal opportunities, and a framework that enables everyone to dream and achieve those dreams. The monumental work of Dhamma conversion by Babasaheb originated from this land. Dr. Ambedkar College has opened educational doors for the underprivileged and instigated significant changes in their lives, successfully meeting the educational benchmarks envisioned by Babasaheb.
“Thanks to the relentless efforts of Padmashri Dadasaheb Gaikwad, former Governor Dadasaheb Gavai, and Sadanand Fulzele, the college, which began with merely five classrooms, five educators, and 300 students, has now, in its Diamond Jubilee year, flourished to accommodate 6,000 students, 50 classrooms, and 40 professors. The college has excelled in various academic metrics and is highly sought after by students pursuing admission in its diverse branches,” stated the Chief Minister.
Chief Justice Gavai received accolades from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Bhante Arya Nagarjun Surai Sasai. Five exemplary students from Dr. Ambedkar College were also honored by the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice.
