He emphasized that the philosophy and Constitution crafted by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar have charted a path for the advancement of the nation.
“It is vital that his achievements and contributions towards societal upliftment resonate within every community. The State Government strives annually to enhance the significance and grandeur of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Jayanti celebrations, and this year will be no exception, with collaborative efforts across various departments to ensure a larger-scale observance,” he articulated.
Fadnavis conveyed these messages during a review meeting focused on the arrangements for the upcoming 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, scheduled for April 14, 2026.
He remarked that honoring the birth anniversaries of eminent leaders transcends mere formality; it serves as a conduit for imparting their thoughts and inspiration to future generations.
“The Constitution established by Dr. Ambedkar stands as one of the most exceptional globally, and its inclusive tenets are propelling India toward becoming a developed nation. It is crucial for the younger generation to comprehend the contributions that have afforded them the opportunities, rights, and advancements they enjoy today. Hence, the Jayanti celebration should evolve beyond a mere festival into a movement aimed at disseminating ideas,” he noted.
He acknowledged that millions of admirers from across the country visit Chaityabhoomi on April 14 to pay their respects to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
In light of the summer heat, he instructed the administration to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the comfort of attendees. This includes erecting shelters at various locations to shield visitors from the sun and guaranteeing sufficient drinking water supplies. Effective traffic management must also be implemented in and around Dadar to facilitate smooth movement.
Moreover, he directed the installation of information boards at key points for public assistance. The BEST administration is expected to provide adequate bus services between Dadar railway station and Chaityabhoomi to ease transportation for the community.
Highlighting that Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated extensively not only within India but globally, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of organizing the event in an exemplary manner.
Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat mentioned that an initiative aims to disseminate the Indian Constitution to every household, executed through district collector offices.
“The primary goal is to foster awareness about the Constitution among citizens. In alignment with Dr. Ambedkar’s exhortation to 'Educate, Organise, and Agitate,' extensive construction of hostels for students is underway. Special activities will also be introduced this year as part of the Jayanti festivities, including a spectacular drone show based on Dr. Ambedkar’s life at Chaityabhoomi on April 13,” he added.
The meeting also covered arrangements for a police ceremonial salute, a floral tribute via helicopter at Chaityabhoomi, a large accommodation tent at Shivaji Maharaj Ground, emergency medical provisions, exhibition pavilions, decoration of the Chaityabhoomi stupa and surrounding areas, a special issue of Lokrajya magazine, and government advertising strategies.
