Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Monday that the establishment of a united Maharashtra, which includes Mumbai, during the linguistic reorganisation of states, was deeply influenced by the ideology and ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
“Mumbai is an integral part of Maharashtra - a powerful assertion made by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar that continues to hold meaning today. There exists an unbreakable connection between Mumbai and Maharashtra. The unification of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, was fundamentally based on Dr Ambedkar’s ideology,” he stated.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a ceremony where he unveiled a life-sized statue of Dr Ambedkar in the city, emphasizing Babasaheb’s vital link with Mumbai.
He announced that to honor Dr Ambedkar's legacy in Mumbai, the state government is constructing an impressive memorial at Indu Mill. “The Constitution provided by Babasaheb is unparalleled globally. It serves as the bedrock of our nation's governance and has set the course for India to rise as a global leader,” he remarked.
CM Fadnavis stressed that the statue of Babasaheb cannot be considered complete without the Constitution he authored. “Through this document, he delivered justice to the oppressed and marginalized, ensuring equitable opportunities for everyone. His foresight and intellectual profoundness are evident in every aspect of the Constitution,” he noted.
The CM highlighted that Mumbai was the location where Dr Ambedkar was first honored after completing his matriculation. It was also the venue where he was celebrated upon returning from the Round Table Conferences, following the drafting of the Indian Constitution, and during numerous other significant events. The 50th birthday tribute for Babasaheb was also held at Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai. “Numerous pivotal moments in Babasaheb's life - celebrations, book launches, and political beginnings - were all linked to Mumbai,” the CM stated.
“He became the advocate for the marginalized and devoted his life to their advancement,” the CM added.
Earlier, CM Fadnavis stated that the state government operates strictly according to the Constitution. “Everyone recognizes that our nation is advancing swiftly. The most remarkable aspect is the Constitution of India. Babasaheb's knowledge spanned all disciplines, which is reflected in the Constitution. We can never fully repay Babasaheb. All our actions will align with the Constitution,” he concluded.
