Ambedkar. Speaking at Chaityabhoomi during the celebration of Dr Ambedkar's 134th birth anniversary, the Governor highlighted the importance of creating a society rooted in social and economic equality.
“Dr Ambedkar is honored as the architect of the Indian Constitution, a remarkable social reformer, and a patriot. His impact on democracy, social justice, and gender equality continues to influence contemporary India,” stated Governor Radhakrishnan.
He also remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recognized the Constitution as his guiding principle upon assuming office, demonstrating Dr Ambedkar’s lasting legacy.
The Governor expressed optimism that the forthcoming Ambedkar Memorial at Indu Mill will become a perpetual source of motivation for generations to come.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also addressed the gathering, emphasized Dr Ambedkar’s crucial role in upholding national unity through the Constitution. “The India we recognize today stands on the robust foundation established by Dr Ambedkar’s Constitution. As we commemorate 75 years of this living document, we recall how he confronted social inequalities and embedded the principles of equality and fraternity within it,” he asserted.
Fadnavis further stated that the Constitution grants every Indian equal rights and opportunities, fostering the confidence to dream and succeed. He characterized Dr Ambedkar as a visionary whose work significantly shaped the structure of modern India.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed that the Constitution holds supreme authority for him. Dr Ambedkar’s contributions—in education, social justice, industrial growth, and human rights—have had a profound effect. His vision encompassed practical nation-building efforts like irrigation planning, a national power grid, and the safeguarding of labor rights,” Fadnavis remarked.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the most genuine homage to Dr Ambedkar would be to uphold the values of equality, fraternity, and justice as outlined in the Constitution. “Let us renew our dedication to his principles and continue to construct the India he envisioned,” he concluded.
