He extended his wishes to the people of Maharashtra on the eve of Independence Day.
In his address, the Governor remarked, “Maharashtra has a rich heritage of spiritual leaders and social reformers who have steered our society towards righteousness, justice, and equality. Since gaining Independence, Maharashtra has achieved significant progress in socio-economic development. Our state leads the way in industrial growth, education, agriculture, and culture.”
“On the significant occasion of the 79th Independence Day, I convey my warmest greetings to all the residents of Maharashtra. This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless known and unknown freedom fighters, revolutionaries, and ordinary individuals to attain independence,” stated the Governor.
The Governor will raise the National flag during the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Council Hall, Pune at 9:05 A.M. on Friday. He will also host the traditional Independence Day reception for guests at the Raj Bhavan lawns in the evening.
Previously, the Governor mentioned that Maharashtra is a favored destination for Foreign Direct Investment, contributing over 14 percent to the nation’s total GDP, positioning itself as one of India’s leading industrial states.
The government is actively working towards building an inclusive, progressive, and developed Maharashtra, bringing together all communities.
He noted that during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January 2025, the government signed memorandums of understanding worth approximately Rs 15.72 lakh crore with 63 national and international companies. This initiative is expected to create over 15 lakh job opportunities in the state.
Additionally, the government plans to allocate around Rs 5,000 crore as Investment Promotion Subsidy across various industries in the state to attract investments, promote industrial growth, and generate employment opportunities.
Moreover, the state government, through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, has decided to distribute industrial plots of around 3,500 acres to promote industrialization.
Addressing the increasing demand for industrial land, 10,000 acres will be designated for industrial use. The government will establish 10 Integrated Industrial Parks and Integrated Logistics Parks to boost industrial advancement, enhance supply chain efficacy, and cultivate a world-class business environment.
Furthermore, the launch of the 'Maharashtra Technical Textiles Mission' has been approved to bolster and expand the state’s textile industry.
Maharashtra has distinguished itself as the first state in the nation to initiate such a mission in alignment with the Centre’s 'National Technical Textiles Mission', reinforcing its prominence in the textile sector,” concluded the Governor.
