Mumbai, May 1 (NationPress) Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan emphasized that Maharashtra is leading in all sectors and the government is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, progressive, and developed state by engaging all segments of society.
After raising the national flag on the occasion of the 66th Foundation Day of Maharashtra, the Governor encouraged citizens to contribute towards realizing the vision of transforming India into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ during this ‘Amrit Kaal’ of India. “I call upon everyone to unite in building a modern, robust, and forward-thinking Maharashtra. My warmest wishes to all on Maharashtra Day,” he stated.
He mentioned that under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the government has directed all departments to develop a 100-day action plan aimed at accelerating initiatives for public welfare. These initiatives encompass website enhancements, improving living conditions, enhancing cleanliness, addressing public concerns, attracting investments, and conducting regional office visits, among others. Most of these initiatives have already been successfully rolled out across the state.
The Governor highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India aspires to become a $5 trillion economy, while Maharashtra targets a $1 trillion economy. “At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the state government signed 63 Memoranda of Understanding valued at Rs 15,72,654 crore. These agreements are projected to generate employment for 15,95,960 individuals across the state. MoUs have been established with leading companies from various sectors, including steel, IT, green energy, automobiles, textiles, electronics, biotechnology, and more,” he added.
The government has launched the Maharashtra Cyber Security Project and sanctioned the formation of the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Security Board. A Task Force has been constituted to develop the Maharashtra cyber security policy and the Maharashtra Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy, stated the Governor.
To establish Gadchiroli district as a Steel Hub and enhance employment, the government has assigned nine steel manufacturing projects to the region. This endeavor will draw an investment of Rs 1,60,238 crore and is anticipated to create job opportunities for 50,000 individuals, he noted.
“Since the new government took office in December 2024, a total of 78 industrial units have been granted concessions. This will attract investments totaling Rs 6,55,084 crore and is expected to generate employment for 2,47,400 people.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government plans to provide three gas cylinders per year, free of charge, to eligible families. The government has successfully executed the Majhi Laadki Bhahin Yojana, aiding numerous needy mothers and sisters across the state. An incentive of Rs 20,000 per hectare will be offered to registered paddy farmers in distress for the 2024-25 season. Additionally, a pension of Rs 12,000 per year will be granted to all construction workers in the state who are registered with labor welfare boards and are aged 60 and above. The Namo Divyang Abhiyan is being implemented to assist persons with disabilities.
“Our government has resolved to construct the Maharashtra Rajya Sanskritik Bhavan and a museum in Mumbai. The state government is making dedicated efforts to secure UNESCO World Heritage status for Maharashtra’s sea forts,” said the Governor.
Additionally, it has been decided to build a Maratha Shaurya Smarak in Panipat, Haryana. A memorial for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will also be constructed in Agra, where he was detained. The government is implementing the National Education Policy 2020.
“I am proud to announce that Maharashtra secured 201 medals at the 38th National Sports Competition held in Uttarakhand. Thirty-one athletes have been appointed to government positions. The prize money for medal recipients at the Asian Games has been significantly increased,” he remarked.
The Governor mentioned that students from the Scheduled Caste and Nava Buddha communities, who could not gain admission to government hostels, are being supported through the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Swadhar Yojana. Over Rs 3,389 crore has been allocated to more than 31.36 lakh farmers in the state who were severely affected by natural disasters. The installation of one lakh solar agriculture pumps has taken place under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The government has decided to provide free electricity to 45 lakh agricultural pump owners up to 7.5 HP under the Bali Raja Mofat Veej Yojana. The state government has purchased 11.21 lakh metric tons of soybeans in the last season, the highest in the nation.
A total of 12,69,785 houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (Phase-1), achieving 93.6 percent. Under Phase 2, 18,47,291 houses are currently under construction. The government has recently announced a new sand extraction policy,” he concluded.
