During the event, two employees with disabilities and three self-employed individuals were recognized at the state level, each receiving Rs 8,000, alongside certificates, commendation letters, and shawls. The awardees conveyed that this initiative not only lifts their spirits but also helps them secure a dignified position in society.
Individuals with disabilities highlighted that the various schemes operated by the central and state governments—such as rehabilitation assistance, provision of equipment, pensions, training, employment, and technical support—are playing a significant role in showcasing their talents and facilitating their integration into society.
Self-employed individuals acknowledged that financial support, guidance, and access to necessary equipment have empowered them to progress in their ventures.
Meanwhile, the honored employees stated that the provisions at their workplaces and administrative backing have been essential for their success.
They also noted the complimentary services offered by the District Legal Services Authority, which includes pension-related assistance, certificate issuance, banking and insurance help, compensation, counseling, and legal aid, emphasizing that these services help simplify many complicated processes.
The skilled individuals with disabilities collectively affirmed that this day has true significance only when they are afforded equal opportunities, respect, and accessibility. They view today’s initiative by the administration as a beacon of inspiration.
Senior administrative officer Raksha Negi delivered an empowering message, encouraging persons with disabilities to never view themselves as less capable in any area and to advance forward with a positive attitude.
She added, “The term Divyang linked to our identities signifies that we are divine and unique.” She expressed that receiving the state-level award made the day particularly special for her and conveyed her gratitude to the state government, the social welfare department, and her family.
Another officer, Manish Rawat, expressed, “We are immensely grateful to the state government for recognizing us today.” He emphasized that the initiatives being developed by the state government for persons with disabilities are commendable. “At least someone is acknowledging our efforts despite the challenges,” he remarked.
