Enhanced Security Measures in Poonch for PM Modi's Upcoming Visit to Jammu and Kashmir

Poonch, Jan 12 (NationPress) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, security protocols in the Poonch district have been significantly elevated. Special checkpoints are now operational on key roads, and vehicles are undergoing comprehensive inspections.

These security initiatives are of particular importance given Poonch's proximity to the India-Pakistan Line of Control, coupled with recent reports of increased terrorist activities in the area.

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the Z-Morh Tunnel on the Sonamarg Srinagar-Leh highway, a project of strategic significance. The opening of this tunnel is anticipated to herald a new era in regional development and connectivity, especially during the winter months. It is also expected to significantly enhance tourism and bolster the local economy.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been overseeing the preparations for the tunnel's inauguration, conducting site inspections in Sonamarg. He has shared breathtaking images and aerial views of the tunnel on social media, emphasizing its advantages, particularly in facilitating winter travel for both tourists and residents.

Satvinder Pal Singh, who drove from Jammu to Kashmir, remarked, "I just came from Jammu, and I've observed that security has been ramped up along the entire route. This increased security is a result of Prime Minister Modi's impending visit to Kashmir. A security alert has also been issued, and vehicles are being scrutinized. I feel pleased that whenever we are stopped, we comply and allow our car to be examined because it’s our duty. Furthermore, the police forces assigned for our protection are always prepared to safeguard us around the clock."

Local resident Mohammad Fareed Malik expressed, "As you can see, people in Jammu and Kashmir are eagerly anticipating Prime Minister Modi's visit. This is a joyous occasion for us. The security forces of our nation have consistently played a crucial role in protecting our community, and their presence remains strong today. The security measures have been fortified ahead of the Prime Minister's arrival, with security personnel deployed throughout the area, including the police, CRPF, Indian Army, and other agencies on the streets. It is our responsibility to remain vigilant to avert any untoward incidents."
