EOU to Propose Property Seizures for Those Implicated in Exam Leak: Bihar ADGP

Patna, Dec 16 (NationPress) Bihar Police ADGP Kundan Krishnan stated on Monday that the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of the state police is set to recommend the attachment of properties belonging to the accused in the exam leak incident.
"Since 2012, the EOU has taken considerable measures, successfully solving 10 cases, apprehending 545 suspects, and submitting charge sheets against 249 individuals. A model act has been enacted in the state, enforcing severe penalties for offenders. This has been utilized, for example, in the CHO (Community Health Officer) examination rigging case, where the computer servers of examination centres and service providers were compromised," the ADGP noted.
He further mentioned that the EOU will now extend consultancy services to departments conducting competitive examinations, aiming to uphold the integrity of computer-based tests.
"The EOU is in the process of creating a data bank of organized gangs operating in Bihar and neighboring states over the last 12 years. The goal is to pinpoint key players involved in examination fraud. Subsequently, the EOU, in collaboration with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), plans to seize assets of those accused, obtained through fraudulent means under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)," he stated.
He urged citizens to report instances of exam leaks or other offenses through designated phone lines and WhatsApp numbers managed by the EOU.
"A dedicated cell, led by an officer of SP rank, focuses on addressing complaints, including countering rumor-mongering and investigating false news," he added.
Speaking on the concerns regarding the 70th Preliminary Test (PT) examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), the ADGP clarified that no evidence has been found to suggest that the examination paper was compromised.
"The incident that caused disruption was limited to a single center, and the district police, alongside the civil administration, are well-equipped to manage the situation," he affirmed.
He also reassured candidates of the government’s proactive stance against examination malpractices.
"I want to assure candidates that past incidents of paper leaks have been treated with utmost seriousness, and the Bihar Police along with the EOU remain vigilant to avert such events in the future," he concluded.
