Patna, March 31 (NationPress) In a significant move against corruption in Bihar, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) executed coordinated raids at various locations associated with two high-ranking government officials on Tuesday.

The EOU conducted searches at 12 different sites, with six linked to DSP (Kishanganj) Gautam Kumar and six to DRDA Director (Saharsa) Vaibhav Kumar.

Raids took place in Patna, Purnea, Kishanganj, Saharsa, and Muzaffarpur.

The operation was initiated after credible evidence suggested that the officials held assets exceeding their known income sources.

Upon verification, individual cases were filed against both officials.

In EOU Police Station Case No. 03/26 (dated March 29, 2026), under the BNS 2023 and the Prevention of Corruption Act, preliminary evidence indicates that Gautam Kumar accrued assets worth around Rs 1.94 crore, which is approximately 60.27% more than his declared income.

Consequently, EOU teams commenced raids at six locations associated with him in Patna, Purnea, and Kishanganj.

In EOU Police Station Case No. 04/26 (dated March 29, 2026), Vaibhav Kumar is alleged to have disproportionate assets totaling roughly Rs 2.41 crore, approximately 78.03% above his known income, prompting searches in Saharsa and Muzaffarpur.

Both cases are registered under pertinent sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018), alongside provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Search warrants were secured from the Special Vigilance Court in Patna, leading to coordinated operations by senior police officials, including Additional SPs, SSPs, and DSPs.

Authorities indicated that the raids are ongoing, with detailed results to be disclosed post-operation.

This action by the EOU is viewed as a robust effort to enhance vigilance against corruption within Bihar's administrative framework.

Point of View

The recent raids by the EOU serve as a crucial reminder of the need for accountability within government ranks. This operation not only targets individuals but also aims to reinforce public trust in administrative integrity.
