New Delhi, April 21 (NationPress) The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) revealed on Monday a net increase of 16.10 lakh members in February this year. Analyzing the year-on-year data shows a 3.99 percent rise in net payroll additions compared to the same month last year, reflecting an increase in job opportunities and greater awareness of employee benefits, supported by the EPFO's successful outreach efforts, as stated in an official report.

The data indicated that the EPFO registered about 7.39 lakh new subscribers in February 2025, with a significant presence of the 18-25 age group. This demographic alone accounted for 4.27 lakh new subscribers, making up a notable 57.71 percent of the total new additions during the month. This trend is consistent with previous data, showing that many individuals entering the organized workforce are young people starting their first jobs.

Additionally, the net payroll addition for the 18-25 age group in February 2025 is around 6.78 lakh, indicating a growth of 3.01 percent from the previous year, according to the statement.

Approximately 13.18 lakh members who had previously exited rejoined the EPFO in February 2025, marking a considerable 11.85 percent year-over-year growth compared to February 2024. These individuals changed jobs and returned to organizations under the EPFO's scope, opting to transfer their savings rather than seeking final settlement, thereby ensuring their long-term financial security and continuing their social security coverage, the statement added.

In February 2025, around 2.08 lakh new female subscribers joined the EPFO, reflecting a 1.26 percent year-over-year growth compared to the same month last year.

The net female payroll addition for the month stood at approximately 3.37 lakh, showcasing a remarkable 9.23 percent year-over-year growth when compared to February 2024. This increase in female membership highlights a shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce, as noted in the statement.

A state-wise examination of payroll data reveals that the top five states/UTs account for roughly 59.75 percent of net payroll additions, totaling about 9.62 lakh net payroll during the month. Maharashtra emerged as the leading state, contributing 20.9 percent of net payroll additions. The states/UTs of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh each contributed more than 5 percent of the total net payroll during this period.
