New Delhi, June 2 (NationPress) Errol Musk, father of American billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, commended India’s emergence as a global power and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, Errol Musk, who is presently visiting India, stated: "India is already a world power."

His remarks come at a crucial moment when India is gaining worldwide acknowledgment for its economic advancement and global presence. Recently, during the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog, it was revealed that India has surpassed Japan to become the fourth-largest economy in the world, with a GDP exceeding $4 trillion.

India remains the fastest-growing major economy globally, and it is the sole nation projected to grow at more than 6 percent annually over the next two years. Current forecasts suggest that India’s GDP could reach $5.58 trillion by 2028, overtaking Germany to become the third-largest economy worldwide.

IANS: India is becoming a global power under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. What are your insights on this?

Errol Musk: I believe India is already a world power. Holding the fourth-largest GDP globally means you are a world power, regardless of opinions. What’s remarkable is India’s modest demeanor. Unlike others who aggressively assert their presence, India contributes quietly to the global community. There’s much the world can learn from India.

IANS: How do you respond to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam?

Errol Musk: I’ve consistently supported India on this issue. Friends who’ve traveled by bus from Delhi to Srinagar shared their experiences of unpredictability and danger - not knowing when an RPG might strike. It’s disheartening to witness two mature nations in such conflict. Ordinary people shouldn’t endure this suffering. If Pakistan is culpable, it must be addressed, and if India is at fault, that should be acknowledged as well. Both nations are significant; they need to find a resolution.

IANS: What are your thoughts on India’s progressive initiatives to draw global investments in electric vehicles?

Errol Musk: It’s a brilliant strategy. The way forward is to facilitate, not complicate. Innovating new technologies, vehicles, and systems is already incredibly challenging. Governments should support innovators instead of hindering them. India’s policies in this realm are encouraging and visionary.

IANS: How do you assess Prime Minister Modi’s leadership?

Errol Musk: He stands out as one of the finest leaders globally today. It’s always a pleasure to watch him address the nation. He exudes confidence and clarity. Under his guidance, India has made significant strides, both economically and in global diplomacy.

IANS: How do you view the relationship between PM Modi and your son, Elon Musk?

Errol Musk: Their relationship is positive. Prime Minister Modi must prioritize India’s interests, while Elon must consider Tesla’s. That’s the essence of global partnerships. I’m confident they’ll find a mutually beneficial agreement. Personally, I truly believe there will be a Tesla manufacturing facility in India. It’s essential; India is one of the most strategically crucial countries in the world.

IANS: Do you think Elon Musk could serve as the President of the United States?

Errol Musk: He wasn’t born in America, so according to current laws, he’s ineligible. More crucially, Elon thrives in the private sector, where he is most effective. That said, anything is possible. If he ever became president, I believe he would be exceptionally competent.

IANS: What are your thoughts on Hindu rituals and Indian spirituality?

Errol Musk: If the world followed Shiva, it would be a better place. I’m no expert, but Hinduism fascinates me. Its ancient roots are mind-boggling. The depth and history of the religion reveal how little we understand about our past. India embodies a profound sense of continuity and spirituality that is truly humbling.
