New Delhi, Jan 22 (NationPress) The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced on Wednesday that eSankhyiki, India's platform for statistical data dissemination, has successfully reached a remarkable milestone of 134 million records in its repository, achieving this feat in merely seven months since its launch in June 2024.

According to MoSPI, “This achievement underscores India’s commitment to harnessing data for evidence-based policymaking and showcases its role as a leader in enhancing global statistical practices.”

This accomplishment aligns with India's position as a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), further reinforcing its global commitment to statistical excellence and open data initiatives.

eSankhyiki exemplifies India’s compliance with international standards in data dissemination while demonstrating its dedication to fostering data-driven governance and sustainable development.

It also emphasizes the ministry's resolve to ensure that data is both accessible and useful for the public as well as for decision-makers, as stated in their announcement.

As a participant of the UNSC, India continues to lead globally in data democratisation, ensuring that reliable statistics form the bedrock of governance and international collaboration.

Utilizing open-source tools and in-house expertise, eSankhyiki offers a rich repository of time-series data across crucial domains, such as National Accounts Statistics (NAS), Price Statistics, NSS Surveys, Economic Census, and Index of Industrial Production (IIP).

The platform empowers researchers, policymakers, businesses, and citizens with intuitive dashboards that facilitate filtering, visualization, and data export in various formats through APIs, adhering to the principles of data as a public good.

Looking forward, MoSPI intends to broaden the repository with additional datasets, implement AI-powered search capabilities, and provide enhanced features like personalized dashboards and interactive infographics to elevate user experience.

The aim of this portal is to create a comprehensive data management and sharing system that simplifies the dissemination of official statistics throughout the country.

The eSankhyiki Portal comprises two modules. The Data Catalogue Module consolidates the ministry's major data assets in one location for easy access, allowing users to search within datasets, including tables, and download relevant data to enhance its value and usability.

This module features seven data products, namely NAS, Consumer Price Index, IIP, Annual Survey of Industries, Periodic Labour Force Survey, Household Consumption Expenditure Survey, and Multiple Indicator Survey.

The Data Catalogue section currently houses over 2,291 datasets, complete with specific metadata and visualizations for each dataset to ensure user convenience.

The second module, the Macro Indicators Module, presents time series data on critical macro indicators, offering features for filtering and visualizing data that enable user-friendly access.

This module also allows users to download customized datasets, visualizations, and share them via APIs, thereby enhancing the reusability of data.
