New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) Electric vehicles (EVs) are spearheading India’s forthcoming growth narrative, spanning from environmental preservation to job generation, as stated by the Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on Sunday.

During his visit to the Electric Vehicle (EV) Expo at Bharat Mandapam, the minister explored various stalls and observed the swift progress made by Indian manufacturers in the realms of electric vehicles, components, and clean mobility technologies. He commended the increasing confidence and capabilities of homegrown EV firms, deeming the sector a fundamental component of India’s shift towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

In his address to the media, Dr. Singh noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has continuously endeavored to foster widespread public awareness regarding environmental protection and e-mobility, while also showcasing the new technological advancements available globally. He emphasized that India is not only reaping benefits from these global innovations but is also stepping forward as a proactive participant in this transformative journey towards clean energy and sustainable transportation.

The minister drew parallels between reforms in the clean energy ecosystem and recent policy initiatives, pointing out that the enactment of the SHANTI Bill, 2025, to encourage private sector involvement in nuclear energy exemplifies the government’s comprehensive approach to fortifying clean and reliable energy sources. He stated that electric mobility aligns seamlessly with the global transition towards clean energy while fulfilling India’s developmental and environmental objectives.

Emphasizing the user-friendly design of electric vehicles, Dr. Singh highlighted their significant ease in operation compared to traditional vehicles, which require less physical effort and offer simplified functionalities. He pointed out the versatility of EVs, underlining their growing applications across various segments like ambulances, e-rickshaws, passenger vehicles, and commercial uses, making them adaptable to diverse mobility needs.

The minister asserted that electric mobility is not just crucial from the standpoint of transportation, environment, and clean energy, but is also emerging as a robust engine for entrepreneurship, job creation, and livelihoods, especially for the youth. He mentioned that the ecosystem fostered under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance has enabled young entrepreneurs to launch EV-related ventures with modest investments, backed by technical and financial support from the government, allowing them to scale their businesses into high-revenue enterprises swiftly.

Dr. Singh stressed the importance of enhancing outreach and awareness among young individuals about the opportunities present in the EV sector, adding that electric mobility signifies a promising route for innovation-driven growth, self-reliance, and sustainable development.

The ongoing EV Expo at Bharat Mandapam convenes leading electric vehicle manufacturers, startups, technology providers, and policy stakeholders on a unified platform to showcase innovations, share ideas, and hasten India’s advancement toward clean and smart mobility, aligned with the Make in India and Viksit Bharat vision.
