Hyderabad, Dec 21 (NationPress) After a significant break, former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is set to embark on a campaign aimed at safeguarding the interests of the state and what he refers to as revealing the shortcomings of both the Central and state governments regarding irrigation initiatives.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader declared that a large-scale movement would commence due to the procrastination in executing the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project over the Krishna River.
This declaration was made during a press conference on Sunday after he chaired a collaborative meeting involving the party’s executive, BRS Legislature, and BRS Parliamentary Party at Telangana Bhavan.
KCR, as the former Chief Minister is commonly known, pledged to uncover the inefficiencies of the Congress government in the state and the BJP-led NDA government at the national level.
“We have allowed ample time. Now, I have resolved to personally take charge. There will be no formalities. We will strive to defend the interests of Telangana,” asserted KCR, who had been relatively inactive following his defeat to the Congress party two years prior.
The BRS leader announced that the party would initiate a massive movement, reaching every village in Palamuru (Mahabubnagar), Ranga Reddy, and Nalgonda districts. He will also conduct a significant public meeting.
He accused the Congress government of inefficacy, which he claims jeopardizes the state’s rights concerning the Krishna and Godavari river waters.
KCR questioned the Congress government’s inaction regarding the initiation of work on the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy project in the past two years. He asserted that immediately after the BRS lost power, the BJP-led Centre returned the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
He claimed that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu influenced the NDA government at the Centre to delay the project.
“The BJP-led NDA at the Centre has been obstructing Telangana’s growth from the beginning. Ever since Chandrababu Naidu allied with the NDA, hindering Telangana projects has become their mission,” he said.
“Out of nine permissions, we received six, including environmental clearance, but when Chandrababu Naidu came into power (in Andhra Pradesh) and joined the NDA, he compelled the Centre to return the DPR,” KCR stated, questioning the Congress government’s silence on this matter.
“Is there even a functioning government in the state, or is real estate their only focus?” he inquired.
KCR asserted that there was comprehensive progress during the BRS administration. He noted that land values increased, and farmers lived with respect. “At present, prices have plummeted. There are no buyers even for a single acre,” he said.
The former CM claimed that under BRS governance, Telangana was synonymous with peace and law and order.
“Today, violent incidents are occurring in broad daylight. According to NCRB, the crime rate has surged by 20 percent,” he remarked.
KCR alleged that the Congress party ascended to power by deceiving the populace with empty promises and propagating falsehoods.
The BRS leader criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his personal assaults on him.
“He continually spews hatred and wishes for KCR’s demise daily. Can someone harbor such animosity? Politics should not descend to this level,” he stated.
KCR also mocked Revanth Reddy for exaggerating the concept of ‘Future City’. “Who requires this Future City? Hyderabad wasn’t constructed in a day. It boasts a 400-year legacy,” he said.
He noted that Revanth Reddy’s mentor is Chandrababu Naidu. “False MoUs won’t attract investments. If they could, ₹20 lakh crore would have poured into Andhra Pradesh,” KCR remarked, referencing the MoUs signed by Chandrababu Naidu during his previous tenure as Chief Minister.
